About

Vintage Knife Shop exists because I have a problem: I cannot look at an old knife without wondering who carried it, what it cut, and how it ended up in a shoebox at an estate sale instead of a museum.

A Solingen blade from 1938. A hunter’s skinner that outlived three owners and at least one garage. A military knife still wearing its inspector’s stamp like a badge of honour. Most pieces that comes through here have a backstory — I just have to go find it.

This is a one-person operation, run out of Toronto, on the theory that a vintage knife deserves more than a blurry photo and “old knife, good condition.” Every piece gets researched, identified as far as I’m able, and described honestly — including the parts where I shrug and say “your guess is as good as mine.”

My background is part collector, part researcher, part slightly obsessive internet detective. I didn’t grow up in the trade — I fell into it by reading too much about maker’s marks at 1am and never really climbing back out. When something crosses my desk that I don’t recognize, I don’t guess. I dig until I know.

If you’re the kind of person who reads the condition notes before the price, welcome. You’re exactly who this shop is for.
