G. Wostenholm 'Axe' Brand Butcher Knife, Sheffield
This substantial butcher knife carries the Axe trademark of George Wostenholm & Son, Sheffield, England, one of Sheffield's most celebrated cutlery firms and the maker best known for its I*XL trademark. Axe was a secondary house mark Wostenholm used on its kitchen and butcher cutlery. This example carries the maker's stamp.
The full-tang blade is fitted with riveted composition scales in the classic English butcher-knife pattern, its long, gently upswept edge built for heavy kitchen and butchery work. See Condition Notes below for detail.
