The "Sure-Cut" Can Opener was patented under U.S. Patent No. 765,450 (application filed March 26, 1903). The patent combined a can-piercing hook, a bottle cap lifter, and a sliding condensed-milk-can punch into a single hand tool with a turned wood handle, interestingly filed by the U.S. Patent Office under "combination cork extractors" rather than can openers outright. No manufacturer is recorded against the patent; the tool was evidently produced and sold under the Sure-Cut name without a separate maker's mark.
