Antique Cast Iron Clown Still Bank — Attributed to A.C. Williams, c. 1908

A cast iron clown still bank, standing in a pointed jester's hat with a coin slot in the back — a documented figural pattern attributed to the A.C. Williams Co. of Ravenna, Ohio, catalogued as bank No. 211 in Andy and Susan Moore's The Penny Bank Book. It was a popular five-and-dime item in its day, distributed through chains like Woolworth's.

The bank is cast in two pieces joined by a base screw, with no cracks or breaks. Faint traces of gold and red pigment remain in the recesses of the casting — hints of the original hand-painted finish — over a deep, dark patina built up from over a century of handling.

Unmarked, as is typical for genuine examples of this pattern, but a well-known, collectible figure from a major American toy and bank foundry. Stands 6½" tall.
