Antique Handmade Fixed Blade — Carved Acorn & Oak Leaf Handle, Brass Ferrule, c.19th Century

$110.00

A handmade fixed blade knife of real folk art quality — the handle carved from a single piece of hardwood in an acorn and oak leaf motif, with an ebonized pommel cap and brass ferrule. The carving is deliberate and accomplished: the acorn and flanking oak leaves wrap the handle in a continuous decorative band, a motif with deep roots in Germanic and British folk craft traditions symbolising strength and endurance. This is not a crude country knife — it is a personal object made with skill and intention.

The blade is short and hand-forged, with a simple taper and flat spine consistent with a purpose-made utility knife. No maker stamp. The handle is solid with no cracks, the ferrule intact, and the pommel cap tight.

A compact, elegant piece — as much an object to be admired as used. A standout in any collection of folk edged tools.
