Victorian Sheffield Table Knife — John Askham & Son, Toboggan Mark, c.1856–1894
A rare antique table knife by John Askham & Son, Sheffield — bearing the firm's Toboggan trade mark, both the name and image of a toboggan stamped on the blade. This mark is documented in the Hawley Collection at Kelham Island Museum as one of Sheffield's distinctive registered cutlery marks.
The blade has a characteristic squared-off wharncliffe-style tip — the defining feature of the toboggan knife pattern — with full carbon steel construction. The turned wood handle, likely beech, is fitted with a single pin and a sturdy iron pommel cap.
