New York Knife Co. Hammer Brand Jack Knife
This two-blade jack knife was made by the New York Knife Co. of Walden, New York, stamped with the company's "Hammer Brand" trademark, used from the late 1870s until the company closed in 1931.
The knife has jigged handle scales with nickel bolsters and caps. Total length is 6 1/4 inches open, 3 1/2 inches closed.
The blades show wear consistent with age and use, and the scales carry light pocket wear. Initials have been scratched into the springs by a previous owner. Both blades have a nice, tight snap.
