New York Knife Co. Large Coke Bottle Folding Hunter

$200.00

This large coke bottle folding hunter was made by the New York Knife Company of Walden, New York, marked "NYK" on the bolster. New York Knife Co., in operation from 1856 until 1931, used this same shield motif on many of its large-pattern folding knives, including coke bottle hunters supplied under contract to other hardware brands of the era.

The knife carries a single clip point blade in carbon steel, jigged bone handle scales, and a nickel silver shield inlay set into one side. Closed, it measures 5 1/2 inches; open, 9 1/2 inches, a notably large example of the pattern.

The blade shows significant wear consistent with age and use, with a good, solid snap. The bone scales show only minimal wear from pocket carry.
