Wade, Wingfield & Rowbotham Stag Hawkbill Pruner, Sheffield, Pre-1900
This antique hawkbill pruning knife was made by Wade, Wingfield & Rowbotham of Sheffield, England, marked "WADE WINGFIELD & ROWBOTHAM" on the blade with "82 TENTER ST. SHEFFIELD" on the tang. The firm traded under this name from about 1818 until partner Richard Wade's retirement around 1851, making this an early example from a long-running Sheffield cutlery house that also produced saws, files, and table cutlery.
The knife carries a single curved hawkbill blade in carbon steel, genuine stag handle scales, and a nickel silver bolster. See Condition Notes below for detail.
